About NCC of Berhampore Girls’ College
The National Cadet Corps is the youth wing of the armed forces where students (called cadets) are given basic military training and open to small arms and parades. It is open to school and college students voluntarily. The cadets have no liability for active military service once they complete their course . However, they are given special treatment if they decide to join the armed forces. URMI MAITRA (ASSOCIATE NCC OFFICER) is in charge of this unit. Only the army wing of the NCC is available at Berhampore Girls' College. The National Cadet Corps is the Indian military cadet corps headquartered in New Delhi. It is open to school and college students on a voluntary basis. The National Cadet Corps in India is a voluntary organization that recruits cadets from high schools, colleges, and universities all over India. The cadets are given basic military training in small arms and parades. The officers and cadets have no liability for active military service once they complete their course but are given performance over average candidates during selections based on their achievements in the corps.

Aims of NCC

  • To develop qualities of character, courage, comradeship, discipline, leadership, secular outlook, spirit of adventure and the ideals of selfless service among the youth to make them useful citizens.
  • To create a human resource of organized, trained, and motivated youth who will provide leadership in all walks of life, including the Armed Forces, and be always available to serve the nation.

Objectives of NCC

  • To fulfil the requirements expected in the latest socio-economic scenario in India.
  • To develop character, discipline, comradeship, a secular outlook, ideals of selfless service, and adventure spirits among a large number of young citizens.
  • To create a pool of trained, organized, and motivated youth with various leadership qualities from every walk of life and serve the nation irrespective of their chosen career.
  • To provide a sound environment conducive to motivating many young people of India to join the armed forces.
