The history of Department of Communicative English of Berhampore Girls’ College always inspires the students to go forward in the journey of Academic life.

UGC had spread its helping hand to Communicative English to keep its step in the Academic world of Berhampore Girls’ College as Self Finance Department in July, 1995 with 20 students and three teachers of English Department along with other Guest Lecturers. Our then Principal, respected Mrs. Kamala Roy, and our then Head of the Department of English, respected Mrs. Aparna Chakraborty, had tried their level best to give its proper meaning along with many Guest Lecturers. Their honesty, sincerity, effort , endeavour and attractive scholarly light of knowledge had enriched the Department of Communicative English. Many men of letters dedicated their lives in order to help the Department to go forward in the journey of Academic life. Teachers of English Department, Dr. Partha Sarathi Guha, Prof. Partha Pratim Mandal and Prof. Binoy Dangar, have contributed their knowledge in order to make the Academic journey of the Department more effective and praiseworthy. At present members of the Governing Body of our College have been trying their level best to introduce syllabus of CBCS to change the old syllabus of this Department. We, the Teachers of this Department , have been waiting for the fulfilment of this ‘blessed hope’.
